The Longswordsman is not that squishy nor dose it lack in damage. Non of them are the strongest of its kind, but they all rank rather high. Human tier 1 units are all someway in the middle. So they might not be the most easy to please but they are copable. Luckly fertile plains are not hard to come across, and forests can be torn down to make more. They dislike underground, volcanic, blight, and Arctic. Humans like only fertile plains(picky people.). However this advantage is less dramatic then the other terrain abilities other races have, and therefor makes them slightly less mobile in those terrains. ![]() This makes them the strongest naval force in the game and can also provide maneuvers like a mass amphibious assault. Human units benefit from having mariner which makes them able to fight as well on water as they do on land. This is a nice perk and should not be ignored but it is no exactly enough to carry through out the game. It also helps outposts to begin paying for them selves more rapidly. This early start can snowball in to a tech advantage in the midgame. ![]() This is also important since your first building will go up a turn earlier. ![]() This means that in the 10 turn mark a human leader would have produced an additional Longswordsman or Halberdier then the others. Every city they own generates a +5 bonus to production innately. Humans have an advantage with production.
